Skuronn
2024
30x70 cm
This quilt was made for the SAQA Europe and Middle East Regional group exhibition "Celebrating Our Heritage". Each quilt needed to be a specific size and contain a word relating to our heritage. My quilt was inspired by early autumn and the view of golden grain fields, reflecting my childhood growing up on a farm in rural Norway. I embroidered the word "Skuronn", which with its roots in old Norwegian and Norse refers to the harvest of grain crops in autumn.
Machine pieced, machine and hand quilted. Hand embroidered.
Cotton fabric, cotton batting, cotton and metallic threads.
This quilt toured with "Celebrating Our Heritage" SAQA Europe and Middle East Group Exhibition in 2024-26.
